CEI has visiting positions available for scholars affiliated with foreign academic institutions. At least one faculty member of the Institute of Economic Research (IER), Hitotsubashi University, should be a guarantor in order to apply for this position. The application should first be made through the guarantor, and not by the applicant himself or herself. We never accept individual proposals. Before making any endorsements, the guarantor is requested to: 1) read and understand the following conditions and 2) know very well about the applicant’s academic works as well as personality. Those who are interested in the visiting faculty positions are invited to contact your prospective guarantor.
Terms and conditions:
1. Research theme: Empirical and applied microeconomics, including economic history. Visiting faculties should have sufficient research experiences and publications in their field.
2. Activities for visiting faculties: Full time (normally 5-days a week) engagement during the visiting period. No teaching obligation. Visiting faculties are expected to conduct research that is closely related to the on-going research projects at CEI. Visiting faculties are required to give seminar presentations during their stay and to submit discussion papers for CEI.
3. Visiting period and logistic arrangements: 3 to 12 months, falling between the same academic year (from April 1 to March 31 in the following year). Travel expenses, relevant remuneration, and other allowances will be paid in accordance with the regulations of Hitotsubashi University. The University residential facility can be used depending on the availability.
4. The number of positions available: 1 or 2 depending on the intended period of stay.
